I have had the pleasure of getting to know Dr. Jing Liang and as we spent a day together creating branding images for her practice in Palatine. She takes a really unique approach to whole body health, and takes the time to get to know each patient. And her office is state of the art with the therapies she offers.
Because she has a unique approach to medicine, it’s really important for potential patients to see her warmth and caring nature online. Here are some of the images we created together. And if you’re looking for business or branding images, I’d love to talk.

Since it’s Back-To-School time, it’s a good time of year to re-evaluate our health, and I asked her to share some tips to help us feel better.
Here’s what Dr. Liang has to say:
5 Signs You’re Running on Empty, and It’s Not Just Because You’re Busy
You may be getting through your days, but that does not necessarily mean you are feeling well.
Sometimes, running on empty becomes so familiar that it starts to feel normal.
1. You Wake Up Tired
You are spending seven or eight hours in bed but rarely wake up feeling restored. Your body feels heavy, your mind is already foggy, and getting started takes more effort than it should.
Waking up tired every once in a while is understandable. Waking up tired most mornings is worth paying attention to.
2. You Rely on Caffeine to Function
There is nothing inherently wrong with enjoying coffee. The question is whether you enjoy it or feel unable to function without it.
If you need multiple cups just to think clearly, get through the morning, or prevent yourself from falling asleep at your desk, caffeine may be helping you compensate for something your body is missing.
3. You Crash in the Afternoon
A slight dip in energy later in the day can be normal. Feeling as though someone suddenly pulled the plug is different.
You may become foggy, crave sugar, reach for another coffee, or feel like you could fall asleep if you stopped moving.
4. You Feel More Irritable Than Usual
Running on empty can show up as a shorter temper, less patience, difficulty concentrating, or feeling overwhelmed by things you would normally handle.
Irritability is not a character flaw. It can be a signal that your emotional and physical reserves are running low.
5. Your Body Aches More Than It Used To
It is easy to label all of this as aging. While our bodies do change over time, increasing pain and stiffness are not always something we simply have to accept.
What Can You Do?
You do not need to overhaul your entire life tomorrow.
Start by becoming curious. Notice your sleep, energy, meals, caffeine use, mood, and pain. Look for patterns rather than judging yourself.
Ask yourself:
- Do I wake up feeling restored?
- Am I eating regularly and getting enough protein, fiber, and nutrients?
- Am I relying on caffeine or sugar to keep going?
- Do I have opportunities to move and recover during the day?
Don’t wait until your body forces you to stop.
Sometimes the first step toward feeling better is recognizing that the way you have been feeling may be common, but it does not have to remain your normal.
